Mobile Technical Training is participating in the Section 18004(a)(1) CARES Act grant program.
On March 27, 2020, President Trump signed the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (“CARES Act” or “Act”). The Act specifically allocated $12 billion to assist colleges and universities across the country with half of those funds reserved to provide students with emergency financial aid grants. The Certification and Agreement requires each institution applying for HEERF funds to comply with Section 18004(e) of the CARES Act as follows.
- Mobile Technical Training signed and returned to the Department the Certification and Agreement and the assurance that the institution has used, or intends to use, no less than 50 percent of the funds received under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students.
- Mobile Technical will receive $5238 or has received from the Department pursuant to the institution’s Certification and Agreement [for] Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students.
- Mobile Technical Training will distribute $2619 to students under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act as of the date of submission (i.e., as of the 30-day Report and every 45 days thereafter).
- Mobile Technical Training has determined <10 of students at the institution who are or could be eligible to participate in the Federal student financial aid programs under Section 484 of the Higher Education Act of 1965, as amended, and thus are eligible to receive Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act.
- <10 students who have received an Emergency Financial Aid Grant to students under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act.
- Mobile Technical Training followed the Department’s guidance by issuing the Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students who are or could be eligible for federal student aid programs. The methodology for the amount each student received was based on a student’s eligibility for a Pell Grant, their Expected Family Contribution to finance their education, as well as housing needs for students who relocated to attend school.
